Baron Gideon Midwood

The first baron of Midwood, Gideon was a Prustan knight serving in the forces of the Tarsisian Empire.

The fief he received as a grant from the governor of the Prustan Peninsula was not seen as being particularly prestigious -- the dragon Gax had conquered the region some years before, displacing the local dwarf population and wiping out the gnome community that formerly lived in the shadow of Green Mountain. Some in court allegedly hoped Gideon would die in his attempt to carve out a barony here, while others hoped he would rout the dragon. Neither happened, but he was able to successfully found a community despite the dragon's presence.

His great-great-great-great-great-grandson, Baron Nicodemus Midwood, closely resembles Gideon, according to those who have seen portraits of the first baron hanging in Midwood Hall in Middleborough.
