Foxton on Moss gained its name from the large number of fox dens that once overlooked the chilly river as it whipped past. The foxes are mostly gone now, but a curious echo of them remains: the fox dreams.

When a woman gets pregnant in Foxton on Moss, there is a chance she will have a dream of the fox dens, even if she has never heard of them prior to that night. If the child is then born within the town limits -- which is not a guaranteed thing, as many women have ended up giving birth out in the sheep meadows or in a neighboring community under the watchful eye of a priestess/midwife of Estanna -- the child will be born with red hair, a long and pointed nose and bright eyes, even if none of their ancestors possess these traits. The children seem otherwise perfectly normal, but they will grow up with the abillty to become a sorcerer. No one else born in the barony has become a sorcerer otherwise.

Magical inquiries into the root and the meaning of the fox dreams and the fox births have borne no fruit, and residents are uncomfortable talking about the phenomenon with outsiders.
