Hanseath
From Praemal
While most dwarf gods lead their followers to ecstasy and a communion with the divine through intense focus -- the blissful look on the face of a dwarf working on an axe blade for hours in a blazing forge is no accident -- Hanseath the Bearded One (his beard obscures almost his entire face) takes a shortcut to ecstasy. One of the few chaotic dwarf deities, he represents the festive and wild side of the dwarf race, and his followers live life large, drinking, carousing, eating and fighting, throwing themselves into the passion that all dwarves feel, but few express.
His temples are great feasthalls, and in regions where dwarves do not predominate, sometimes taverns are co-opted as religious sites. (In Foxton on Moss, the tavern of the Way Inn serves as the defacto temple of Hanseath, despite the presence of the nearby Stone Church.) The one exception to the back-slapping, glory and beer-soaked joy of Hanseath's worship is the solemn Ritual of the Cleft Shield, where his followers remember worshippers who have died. In Midwood, where the dwarf community is fairly small, all dwarves are honored with this ritual in death.
Like Mocharum, Hanseath observes Theoday as a day of rest. Clerical magic other than healing and curing spells will not function from sunrise to Sunset on Theoday.
Dwarves who do not worship Hanseath appreciate the battle frenzy of his berserker worshippers, but they also tend to be made uncomfortable by his and their undisciplined ways.
One of the gods of Praemal.
Hanseath is Chaotic Neutral and his domains are Chaos, Strength, Travel and War. His favored weapon is the greataxe. His symbol is a golden mug and his male worshippers are expected to grow a thick beard.
