Kem House

From Praemal

Kem House, est. 586 IA, is the ancestral home of the Kem Family of Maidensbridge and one of the oldest (and largest - certainly the largest residence) buildings in the village. It has a much different design sensibility than most of the homes and is quite off-putting even to townspeople that should be used to it.

It was commissioned built by Roma Kem upon his assumption of the role of bookkeeper for the budding apple orchard nearby. Many of the simple apple farmers had no idea what an accountant even was, and so let him about his business, dismissing him as a mildly annoying eccentric. It would not be for several decades that the town would grow to realize they had snakes in their midst. But by then it was too late and the Kem family had made their mark...and their landmark.

Kem House is two stories with a stooping roof and dark gray exterior. The second floor has many bedrooms, among them the spacious master. The ground floor boasts a sitting room, a luxurious dining room, the kitchen, the expansive library/office, a rudimentary nursery (now in disarray), and even a servant's quarters (though it is unclear whether the Kem Family ever actually had a servant).

In 629, brothers Ronklin and Ralkus Kem had a stone dungeon installed underneath the building to contain Ralkus' dwarven mistress and their unruly bastard children.

Situated on the edge of the orchards between the home of bailiff Russell Bailey and the watchtower of constable Ward Bridger, much of the home has been in shambles, being left in the care of Renraw Kem and his rambunctious cousin Rando for the last several months.

The current occupants are the sickly Rogren Wilde and his caretaker/companion Flower...and whoever lurks in the dungeon...
