Rivenoak
From Praemal
Rivenoak was to be the second community established in the Barony of Midwood, after Middleborough. Like the seat of baronal power, it was to be a logging community, but deeper in the woods, where rare woods had been located by the baron's scouts.
A small community was set up and the clearing of the wood began, carving out enough space for a dozen homes and other buildings. All went well at first, and the barony began producing darkwood for export.
The winter of that year was an especially harsh one, though, cutting the two communities off from one another. When spring came, the baron sent troops to render aid to the presumably half-starved residents. Instead, they found that the Tulgey Wood had reclaimed the village, with ancient trees growing up through the ruins of the buildings.
Of the residents of Rivenoak, there was never any sign and it would be a generation before the next baron would attempt to establish a new settlement, this time moving upstream on the Moss River and establishing Foxton on Moss. Although Foxton is home to its own mysterious phenomenon, it has not cost residents their lives or the barons their property.
Today, few know of Rivenoak and its site is not included on official maps of the barony.
