The Chromatic Dragon Tiamat is the mother of all evil dragons and continues to create new evil draconic races in an attempt to ultimately conquer the world. All evil dragons, even if they worship another draconic deity, pay homage to Tiamat -- it's dangerous not to.

Tiamat is a five-headed dragon, with one head the color of each of the major evil dragon races she spawned: red, blue, green, black and white.

Most dragons and many kobolds pay her homage, but few have a shrine to her in their lairs, because they don't want her being able to look upon their treasure hoards. Instead, her shrines are gloomy caverns laden with treasure and sacrifices nearby.

She was also a major figure in the religious life in ancient Uraq, where she was one of the primary gods worshiped in the Caliphate of Unuul.

Tiamat is Lawful Evil and her domains are Destruction, Dragon, Evil, Greed, Law and Trickery. (The Dragon and Greed domains are found in the Draconomicon.) Her symbol is a five-headed dragon and her favored weapon is the heavy pick or a bite.
