Vecna

From Praemal

Seldom is the name of Vecna spoken, except in a hushed voice, and never within the hearing of strangers, for legends say the phantom of this once supreme arch-lich still roams Praemal.

According to the Fables of Burdock, when the lich finally met his doom battling his lieutenant Kas, one eye and one hand survived.

Some rumors link Vecna to the Goddess of faults, Kran.

Even today, many modern necromancers view Vecna's work on necromancy, Ordinary Necromancy, to be the most significant piece of writing on the subject.

The eye and hand of Vecna

The Eye of Vecna is said to glow in the same manner as that of a feral creature. It appears to be an agate until placed in an empty eye socket of a living being. Once pressed in, it instantly grafts itself to the head, granting the bearer great power.

Tales say the Hand of Vecna appears to be a mummified extremity, a blackened and shriveled hand, possibly from a burned body. If the wrist portion is pressed against the stump of a forearm, it will instantly graft itself to the limb and become a functioning member.
