Wizard

Wizards, as opposed to sorcerers, are extremely scholarly -- they look upon magic as a science and attempt to learn and utilize its rules and loopholes. Because their power is acknowledged and respected, wizards often figure into the military, city watches, etc. Elves are only very rarely wizards -- they are sorcerers instead.

Wizards are typically either taught by a mentor or enroll in a wizard's college. There are a fair number of these throughout Praemal, but the best-known are Redhurst and St. Feldin's College of Abjuration in Tarsis.

Other groups that teach apprentices also exist, including the Brides of Magic in Ptolus, the Wizard's Guild of Freeport, Loet-Rab in Grail Keep, the Kirdkrane Haunt in Paelinth, Rashadar University in Uraq and the Klucid Masters of the Praemal's oceans.

An unusual number of mentor-tutored young wizards come from the rural village of Squagin Hill.
