More Pirates of the Caribbean stuff

First off, if you haven’t caught this month’s official Disneyland podcast, do so. It’s all Pirates of the Caribbean, all the time, both movie and ride.

Secondly, some fun trivia. (Well, fun to me, and I’m the one at the wheel.)

In the movies, the pirates of the Black Pearl hole up on Isla de Muerta and Davey Jones, the captain of the Flying Dutchman buries his most prized treasure on Isla Cruces.

But didja know that the pirate ship in the Pirates of the Caribbean ride is the Wicked Wench and the Spanish town the pirates attack (now led by Barbossa in the tweaked version of the ride) is Isla Tesoro? (Yes, that’s “Treasure Island” and it’s a new name with the revamp.)

The revamp, incidentally, was underway before the first Pirates movie hit, and when it his so big, the crew was faced with the realization that there would be a lot of people coming to the park whose take on the ride would be shaped by the movie, so they decided to add some movie elements to the ride.

Storm Large content online

Most of Storm Large’s Web site has been wiped, presumably to either not upset the producers of Rock Star: Supernova or to relaunch it with more recent content.

But Google to the rescue, particularly its cached page function.

Rock Star: Supernova, Week Two

Guys, if you’re chosen to audition for a band, go ahead and buy the CDs of the band members, just to get a feel for them. The fact that you’re young and stupid is no excuse for not knowing what Motley Crue, Guns N Roses and Metallica sound like.

Otherwise, not a lot of changes this week on Rock Star: Supernova. Storm Large and Dilana are still the two stand-outs, if Tommy Lee and company want a woman. (I think it’d be great publicity for them, but it’s arguably not what Gilby and Tommy are interested in.) Otherwise, I think Toby Rand had the best male performance of the night, although Lukas Rossi was likely hindered by choosing (or maybe being forced) to sing Coldplay.

And it’s official: I could be the biggest rock singer in Iceland.

  • In other news, good free single from iTunes this week from DecembeRadio. Despite the band’s dumb name, “Love Found Me” is a fun rock and roll love song and well worth the download.

(Intentionally) awful writers honored

Detective Bart Lasiter was in his office studying the light from his one small window falling on his super burrito when the door swung open to reveal a woman whose body said you’ve had your last burrito for a while, whose face said angels did exist, and whose eyes said she could make you dig your own grave and lick the shovel clean.

Pirates vs. Ninjas: A ninja reviews Pirates 2

He’s awfully talkative for a ninja, but a ninja reviews Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest. Given the ancient enmity between ninjas and pirates, you can imagine how he feels about it …
