Seasonal sarcoidosis?

Thursday, September 7, 2006, 23:32
Section: Life

I can’t imagine this makes any sense, but it sure feels like it’s true: My sarcoidosis symptoms are flaring up like crazy this past week, after being mostly dormant for months. Oddly enough, the same pattern happened last year as well. Is it possible that the seasons are affecting things? If the temperature was below 90 degrees during the day, I’d blame a change in the weather, but it’s not like I can tell the seasons have changed except by looking at the calendar.

Odd, odd, odd. And hooray for Snap, Crackle and Pop living in all my joints. My knees make enough noise to wake up the cats when they’re sleeping.

A benefit of marriage

Here’s a good thing about being married: I just came home and found an opened bag of corn chips* in the refrigerator. Now, if I were single, I would have to admit that I was either very scatterbrained, drunk, sleepy or all of the above when I put them in there.

Since I’m married, I can just blame Jenn.

* The chips were Tostitos Scoops, which I wholeheartedly recommend without any sort of free bags of them from Frito-Lay, although I am certainly open to them showing up on my doorstep.

Joel’s photos of the California visit

Beau and Kate in Disneyland

Joel’s posted some selected camera phone photos to Flickr, including this one of me wearing a Pirates of the Caribbean baseball cap at Disneyland with Kate.

Kate had been very good and eaten only fruit, veggies and a few pieces of elbow macaroni with garlic cream sauce all day. But Jenn is a nut for churros and when Kate got her hands on the sugar, cinammon and deep-fried pastry within, she loved it, not surprisingly.

There’s also a picture of Kate with my fish tank (which she went berserk over) and a shot of her with my parents in Oakland.

I need to get around to posting all my camera phone shots before Kate’s old enough to drive. I’ll do so this weekend, for sure. Really.

Gun-toting teen ruins my afternoon

So, weeks ago, I got tickets to this afternoon’s taping of the Late, Late Show with Craig Ferguson, which is my new favorite talk show, by a country mile, thanks to the wonders of TiVo.

Weeeeeell, so much for that idea: I got a call about a gun found in a local high school. The inestimable Gretchen Losi at the Daily Press won’t be back in until tomorrow, so this one falls on my shoulders.

Eh, I didn’t really need to see Shannen Doherty anyway. Amy Smart on Wednesday would have been awesome, though.

Damned selfish accused criminals …

Seriously though, this was an easy decision to make, and my inconvenience is nothing compared to the importance of this news, but it was ironic that one of the few scenarios that would have kept me in the office this afternoon (the taping begins at 3 in Hollywood) happened.

  • Update: OK, I’m now on for Monday, September 25. Let’s try this again …
